Rehearsals: 1 - 2.15pm Wednesday, Music Department
Concert band is Blowsoc's largest unauditioned ensemble. Created in 2014, its aim is to give all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any ability the opportunity to be involved in a large wind band, meet new people and participate in concerts on and off campus. We welcome any player to join, whether you attempted the clarinet for a couple of years in primary school, or you've passed your trumpet diploma. In its first two years the band was a huge success and this year we are working hard to continue and improve this. The band is student run and each year everyone has the opportunity to audition for the position of conductor and manager. Concert band rehearses weekly and tackles a wide variety of repertoire from film scores like How to Train your Dragon and UP to the Sousa marches and more classical repertoire. Each Christmas concert band joins with all the small ensembles and wind orchestra to make monster wind band which always finishes the great Blowsoc Christmas extravaganza. Anyone in the band can go on our annual Blowsoc tour. There is no audition, standard or limit and it is a great opportunity to get involved in the society, play new repertoire and participate in a range of concerts. Contact Freya Beevers-Cowling with any questions about the band.
